Funding the Future
A community-powered vision made real through private support and major grants.
From the very beginning, private funding has been the key that unlocked access to the major national and EU programmes backing the SRC project.
Every contribution — whether from a club, a family, or a company — has played a vital role in unlocking the multi-million-euro investment now secured for the Shannonside region.
Major Grants Secured
Thanks to the strength of local support, the SRC committee has successfully secured:
- €15.3 million from the PEACEPLUS Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB), in partnership with Leitrim County Council. This funding will exclusively support the development of the Shannonside Peace Arena, a world-class indoor multi-sports hub and high-performance gym.
- €3.3 million from the Large-Scale Sports Infrastructure Fund (LSSIF) to support the 4G all-weather pitch, lighting, running track, and dressing rooms.
- €1 million from the Community Recognition Fund for Phase 1 groundworks.
These grants are transformative — but they were only unlocked because of the commitment shown by private donors. Without that early investment, they could never have been drawn down.
Private Funding: 3 Strands of Support...
1) Sports Clubs
Local clubs have led by example, contributing to ensure their members and communities have the facilities they deserve.
Carrick Town FC, for example, pledged €10,000 towards the project.
This kind of support shows the grassroots commitment that funders look for.
2) Families & Private Donors
Our Forty Founding Families campaign gives families the chance to contribute €10,000 each, securing a permanent legacy within the campus.
These gifts are about more than funding: they’re about pride, belonging, and building something that will serve future generations.
3) Corporate Partnerships
Businesses have a unique role to play, combining corporate responsibility with visible community impact.
Case Study: Cora Systems
Cora Systems committed €400,000, securing naming rights for Cora Pitch — the 4G all-weather GAA, rugby, and soccer pitch. Their leadership not only advanced the project but set a standard for corporate involvement. [MORE…]
Opportunities Remain!
Naming rights are still available for the running track and the athletics field — prestigious, one-time opportunities for companies ready to make a lasting impact.
Recognition & Legacy
We believe support should be celebrated. Every donor — from families to corporates — will be acknowledged both online and permanently within the finished campus.
When the doors open, the names of our supporters will be woven into the story of this project, visible for generations to come.
